The M.R.S. Health Back device is the only connected home devices including optimized and isolated biomechanics to effectively reduce pain and increase strength, range of motion and endurance. The M.R.S. home care program is available for patients covered under Workers’ Compensation insurance. This blog highlights how the M.R.S. home back device helped Anna regain her back strength and mobility and significantly improve her quality of life. Be sure to watch Anna’s patient testimonial video for the full story.
Challenges in Home Based Spine Care
Home based physical therapy services are rarely optimally delivered. Treatments are often designed randomly using methods that are no longer recommended by medical guidelines. In other instances, the treatment is carried out with sub-optimal devices. Producing services is expensive and difficult to scale economically. Treatment success is difficult to reproduce because it is highly dependent upon the individual therapist’s skills. That is, until now.
The First Connected Device for Low Back Strengthening at Home
M.R.S. Health offers a comprehensive home care platform that provides an answer for the challenges of traditional spine home therapy. The treatment can be easily individualized with high quality results. Automated protocol planning, feedback based adaptive loading progression and pain monitoring occur throughout the program. All parameters and training data is available online and in real-time. Remote monitoring, automation, bio-feedback controlled self-training and a cloud-based quality control system provided by the M.R.S. technology increase client compliance and significantly lower treatment costs.

Comprehensive Program for Back Pain Treatment
The employer or a physician refers the patient. Then, a trained therapist develops a patient-specific treatment program. This includes prescribing the correct range of motion and weight resistance as well as a daily McKenzie stretching routine. The treatment should not underwork or overwork the patient’s back, but rather gradually strengthen and mobilize the target muscles. The device is delivered to the patient’s home and the technicians show the patient how to use the system.
The patient completes the 90-day program 7 times per week. The software gathers and stores all data for real-time monitoring and reporting. A clinician monitors and provides guidance and support for the patient as needed.
When the treatment program is completed, the equipment is picked up from the patient’s home. Reports are sent to the patient’s employer or physician. Here, clear data on back mobility and isometric strength show the patient’s progress. Anna’s patient story is a testament to this revolutionary technology and treatment.
Anna’s inspiring story on how the M.R.S. Health home program helps her
Anna is currently juggling many roles: she is a mother of 4, a registered nurse and a public health graduate student. Recently, Anna’s back pain diagnosis has greatly affected her life. “I suffer from a bulging disc in my lower spine which can be horribly painful. One of the most heart-breaking things about it for me in these last few months has been not to be able to pick up my 3 year old daughter”.
“I suffer from a bulging disc in my lower spine which can horribly painful.”
With graduate classes online due to COVID-19 restrictions, Anna spends most of her days in Zoom meetings and sitting at her desk. “Anyone who has ever had bulging disk in their lower spine, pressing on their nerves can understand how excruciating painful sitting can be”.
M.R.S. Telehealth Program improves quality of life
After having tried out various treatment methods without help, Anna began training with the M.R.S. Back Home Device. “I am very happy to say that my back is now about 80% better. “After following the daily training program for one week, I noticed that the pain was significantly less when I was walking around, and I was able to walk easier”. After completing two weeks of the program Anna says she is able to sit for longer period and noticed a significant difference, for example she could sit for 30 minutes to an hour during her Zoom meetings without feeling pain.
“There has been amazing progress. I definitely feel like my quality of life has improved a lot.”
“During the third week of doing her exercise, Anna noticed she was able to touch her toes again for the first time in a few months. “There has been amazing progress. Just yesterday, my daughter asked me if I could hold her and I was able to pick her up from the floor and hold her. These are all huge milestones for me. I definitely feel like my quality of life has improved a lot since I started to use the M.R.S. home back device.”
With the M.R.S. Back EVE tracking system we can remotely monitor all aspects of rehabilitation success. This data can be viewed anytime and anywhere by the clinician through our cloud-based information management system. The graph above shows how Anna’s lumbar extension strength training weight increased by 550% and her lumbar range of motion training range increased by 12%.
