Patterns of Pain employs specific components of the patient’s clinical presentation to direct management. By using particular elements in the history and physical examination POP offers clinician’s immediate guidance without the need to definitively identify the underlying pathological process. It rules out sinister pathologies, directs referral when necessary and provides a valid prognosis.
